Five Senses Printable Book

This printable book of the Five Senses helps kids think about how they use each of their senses. You can use this book as a review after teaching the senses, or discuss each one as the children create the pages.

Here’s how I used the Five Senses book with my class:

I first showed the kids each page and read the words to them. I did this at small group, so I had about 5-6 children with me. We talked about how we use each of our senses, and brainstormed ideas for each page together.

Then I gave them crayons and their books. We started on page one together, “I can see with my eyes.” (It really doesn’t matter which page is first.)

I asked the children to tell me what they planned to draw (for example, a rainbow), and I wrote that in the blank on their book. We did the same with each page.

After the first page, I let the children go at their own pace. Some kids draw faster than others, so I didn’t make them wait. That also helped me, because I could only write in one child’s book at a time.

It was interesting the see each child’s ideas, and many were really clever for their age.

I had one child who said,
“I can see chicken.
I can taste chicken.
I can smell chicken.
I can hear chickens.
I can touch chicken.”
