Celebrating 25 Years of a Text Analysis Software

25 years ago, founders of Megaputer Intelligence released the first version of their data and text analysis software, PolyAnalyst™. Now, plans are in motion for a big year of new developments.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Dec. 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — With the coming new year, Megaputer Intelligence celebrates the 25th anniversary of PolyAnalyst™, its state-of-the-art software tool for advanced analytics. As Megaputer readies to fulfill its new year’s resolutions, including the release of PolyAnalyst Grid™ and PolyAnalyst 7.0, CEO Sergei Ananyan discussed the company’s outlook, saying, “We are excited for the upcoming developments at Megaputer that will showcase our commitment to revolutionizing how companies can gain immeasurable value from text data.”

During the silver year of PolyAnalyst, the company plans to deliver an enhanced user experience through a re-designed interface, faster big data processing, and a release of its own, fully integrated, optical character recognition (OCR) software for extracting text from image-based files. When Brian Howard, Sales & Marketing Manager at Megaputer, was asked what these product achievements meant to him, he answered, “We’ve accomplished a lot over the years, having built a reputation for excellence as leading innovators in deep linguistic analysis for natural language processing. I often stress in my conversations with new potential clients just how long our company has been perfecting our capabilities for text analysis.” Brian went on to describe how the vendor landscape for text analysis tools didn’t really start to take shape until the mid-nineties. “In my view, being a seasoned player in text analytics is one of the big reasons why Megaputer has its competitive edge today, especially since text analysis is still a relatively new technology.”

Megaputer’s humble beginnings have played a major role in shaping the evolution of PolyAnalyst and the company as a whole. The PolyAnalyst story first began with a close-knit group of artificial intelligence researchers who wanted to commercialize new ground-breaking machine learning techniques that promised to revolutionize text analytics. They started out developing small, separate algorithms designed for specific analytical tasks that were later grouped together in one package that formed the very first version of PolyAnalyst in 1994. The company, Megaputer Intelligence, was later founded in 1997 and established its US headquarters in Indiana, where it continues its work to highlight the hidden insights only found in text.

Zai Lab Announces Launch of Optune® in Hong Kong for Patients with Glioblastoma Multiforme

First patient treated with Optune® providing new therapeutic option for an urgent and unmet clinical need

Second product commercialized by Zai Lab in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Dec. 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Zai Lab (NASDAQ: ZLAB) today announced the launch of Optune® (Tumor Treating Fields or TTFields) in Hong Kong for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) with the treatment of its first patient. Hong Kong is the fourth market after the United States, Europe and Japan to have access to this important new medical technology. Optune is the second product, along with the PARP inhibitor ZEJULA® (niraparib) for the treatment of ovarian cancer, commercialized by Zai Lab in an Asian market.

Optune is a cancer therapy that uses electric fields tuned to specific frequencies to disrupt cell division, inhibiting tumor growth and causing affected cancer cells to die. Zai in-licensed the technology from Novocure in September 2018. Novocure markets Optune in the U.S., Europe, Japan and certain other countries for the treatment of GBM and is in advanced clinical development for multiple solid tumor indications. While Optune is not yet approved for commercialization in China, the technology was included and recommended with Level 1 evidence as a treatment for GBM in China’s Glioma Treatment Guideline published in 2016. In December 2018, the national treatment guideline was expanded to include both newly diagnosed and recurrent GBM patients.

Temozolomide (TMZ) is the only therapeutic approved in China for the treatment of newly-diagnosed GBM. Optune will be the second approved therapy. In the pivotal trial conducted by Novocure that was the basis for the product’s regulatory approvals, treatment with Optune in combination with TMZ compared to TMZ alone resulted in a more than doubling of the five-year overall survival (OS) rate. Optune demonstrates a profound compliance response in which median OS increases with the percentage of monthly time using Optune.

“Since our initial launch of ZEJULA in Hong Kong we have been building our commercial infrastructure in preparation of launching Optune into that market,” said William Liang, Chief Commercial Officer of Zai Lab. “We have been working with Novocure to incorporate their operational best practices into our commercial procedures. Successfully launching two products in Hong Kong will also provide us with valuable experience as we prepare to do the same in the larger China market.”

Dr. Samantha Du, founder and CEO of Zai Lab said, “The launch of Optune in Hong Kong to help GBM patients continues our commercialization momentum that started with the approval and launch of ZEJULA in Hong Kong and the recently-announced China National Medical Product Administration’s acceptance of our NDA submission of niraparib as a Category 1 drug for the maintenance treatment of adults recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal ovarian cancer. 2019 is emerging as a transformational year for the company as we continue our commercial progress in Hong Kong, prepare for commercialization in China and continue to grow and advance our differentiated pipeline.”

About Tumor Treating Fields (Optune®)
Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy is delivered by a portable, non-invasive medical device designed for continuous use by patients. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown that TTFields therapy slows and reverses tumor growth by inhibiting mitosis, the process by which cells divide and replicate. TTFields therapy creates low intensity, alternating electric fields within a tumor that exert physical forces on electrically charged cellular components, preventing the normal mitotic process and causing cancer cell death.

APT Systems Launches Precious Metals Trading Company

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Dec. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — via NEWMEDIAWIRE — APT Systems, Inc. (OTC Pink: APTY), a fully-reporting, fintech company, advises that it has fully launched its wholly owned subsidiary, AUREX Trading and Recovery Inc.  The new operation is focused on trading precious metals and other valuable commodities, recoverable from a variety of military, industrial and consumer electronics.

AUREX is initially focused on the aggregation and refining of commodities like gold, palladium, platinum and silver extracted from a variety of sources but mostly electronics. The trading operation has been opened in a warehouse located just outside of Reading, PA with the ability to source, ship, aggregate and refine precious metal bearing products.  Management has secured scalable industrial space that is strategically located with easy access to major cities. The Aurex facility provides us with immediate advantages in logistics that allows the Company to benefit from regional pricing differences.

“We’re excited to be opening this precious metal trading and recovery facility, especially in Pennsylvania, a state that has significant advantages including proximity to source material and refining partners,” said Glenda Dowie, CEO of APT Systems. “This trading operation is focused on providing liquidity and price transparency to small recyclers helping us to achieve best practices for managing and recycling e-waste.”

It is estimated that the United States produces more e-waste annually than any other country and that Americans throw away 9.4 million tons of electronics every year.  Sadly, it is estimated that only 29% of all global e-waste is handled via the accepted best practice recycling channels.

AUREX is focused on opportunities that can be shown to demonstrably enhance the operations and cash flows of the small recycling partners it serves.  The Company is evaluating prospects for developing a formal platform for posting industry prices to create more transparency inside the e-waste industry.

About AUREX Trading and Recovery Inc:  Founded in 2018, this subsidiary has made its goal to help the recycling industry move society towards adopting our responsible ‘zero electronic waste in our landfills’ policy. AUREX is leveraging industry-leading technology to provide liquidity and pricing transparency to recyclers and the precious metals recovery industry.

About APT Systems Inc.:  APT Systems Inc. is a financial technology company that is developing platforms, including trader access to proprietary charting tools, via the KenCharts application, and plans to launch its innovative trading application, Intuitrader. Verifundr is an escrow and payments platform and Tyrtrade is an interchange for minting and delivering Spera, a stable coin. Management also strategically reviews other compatible financial businesses which demonstrate strong growth potential. We are continuing our diligent search for software products and partners that would enhance our operations. OneLife Technologies Corp. Achieves Wearable Technology Milestones, Including Completion of FCC Certification and PTCRB Approval

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Dec. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — OneLife Technologies Corp. (“OneLife”, the “Company”) (OTC: OLMM), a mobile monitoring, health and medical data, and integrated technologies company, today announces an update on its business, including the FCC certification and PTCRB approval of its stand-alone health wearable.

“As we come to the end of 2018, we are very pleased with the technology accomplishments that we have achieved over the past several months,” stated Robert J. Wagner, CEO of OneLife Technologies Corp.  “By completing the acquisition of key technology assets, receiving FCC certification and PTCRB approval, along with successful in-market testing, we can now begin finalizing the launch of our stand-alone wearable with our advanced data collection and monitoring device platform for the global health and medical marketplaces,” added Wagner.

Summary of Recent Developments:

Finalized Yinuo Asset Acquisitions
OneLife Technologies has completed the acquisition of Yinuo IP, Intellectual Property, and other related assets regarding the wearable and Tricorder technologies.  The Company is now able to protect any new technology and products, which it may introduce to the market in 2019, against any competitive infringement.  The acquisition of these assets was finalized on November 7, 2018 when the Registration Certificate of Technology Export Contract was stamped by the Chinese Government Authority (Shenzhen Economy, Trade and Information Committee).

Completion of FCC Certification for Health Watch
The FCC has decided that all devices that are intentional radiators in the FCC frequency spectrum must receive an FCC certification prior to being marketed for sale in the US.  Compliance Testing is mandated to test a device to the appropriate FCC Standards or FCC Rule Part to validate compliance. The completed FCC test report is then submitted to a TCB (Telecommunication Certification Body) for review and approval.  The manufacturer then receives an FCC Grant enabling the sale of the device in the US market.  OneLife Technologies, Corp. completed/received their FCC Certifications on November 28, 2018.

Completion of PTCRB Approval for Health Watch
PTCRB is a certification organization established in 1997 by leading wireless operators to define test specifications and methods to ensure device interoperability on global wireless networks.  With PTCRB certification, operators and device manufacturers are confident of a device’s interoperability with mobile networks.  Member operators are committed to ensuring device quality through a rigorous certification process.  Without PTCRB certification, manufacturers run the risk that their devices will be blocked on wireless networks.  OneLife Technologies Corp. completed and received PTCRB approval on December 3, 2018.

“As a result of having completed the IP acquisition, FCC certification and PTCRB approval, we are now poised to deliver to the marketplace the first wrist-worn wearable that is a cellular enabled, stand-alone, LTE-M connected instrument.  In addition, the OneLife wearable product will be a networked-certified device with up to a 5-day battery life that can be integrated not only with other devices through our custom Bluetooth protocol, but also with other relevant software platforms.  We are very excited to continue the execution of our business plan in 2019 as the OneLife Team brings to market its ‘Hub-of-Care’ health and medical technologies while continuing its focus on becoming a leader in mobile health and medical technology innovation,” added Wagner.

SoftServe Partners with Mawi to Develop Cutting-Edge Biosignal Analysis Applications

Applications predict diseases and mental states using artificial intelligence for real-time recognition and prediction

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SoftServe, a leading digital authority and consulting company, announces its partnership with Mawi, the next-generation consumer and clinical wearable company, and the developer of one of the most accurate clinical-grade electro cardiogram (ECG) wearable devices. As a partner, SoftServe will use Mawi’s software development kit (SDK) and ECG band to access raw sensor data and develop cutting-edge biosignal analysis applications.

Current development projects focus on novel human-computer interaction interfaces that involve the body. SoftServe’s Touch My Heart project integrates the Mawi ECG band to measure the heart rate with interactive augmented reality that provides a live, direct view, and haptic touch of the human heart.

“We believe in the 3P’s of medicine—predictive, preventive, and personalized—and it motivates us every day to gain deeper cardio and AI expertise and create smarter technical solutions,” said Ron Fridman, founder and CEO of Mawi. “SoftServe’s in-depth experience with AI for recognition and prediction of the human body state in real-time makes them an ideal partner for Mawi. Together we are making progress developing applications that will promote a long and healthy life.”

Additional applications for this SDK include tracking how a particular medication affects a patient. While these types of research devices exist today, they are bulky, inconvenient, and typically offer limited access to real-time data. SoftServe’s R&D team is developing applications that use artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time recognition and prediction of the human body’s state.

“We are excited to collaborate with the Mawi team to build a strong program in the biotech domain,” said Mykola Maksymenko, principal scientist at SoftServe. “Through our work together the opportunities are endless. We can build applications to predict various diseases in real-time, ranging from cardio disorders to epilepsy, or other neurological diseases. Additionally, applications can be built as a feedback loop for a range of wellness data input sources including heart rate and blood pressure tracking, emotion recognition, exercise, and even coffee consumption.”

Energous Corporation Announces First Customer Product Approval from FCC

New wirelessly-charged personal sound amplification products from Energous customer, Delight, are certified to sell in the United States

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Energous Corporation (NASDAQ: WATT), the developer of WattUp, a revolutionary wireless charging 2.0 technology, today announced the first customer product to receive FCC approval. With this certification, the WattUp-enabled personal sound amplification products (PSAP) from Delight, in partnership with SK Telesys, are now certified to be marketed and sold in the United States.

“FCC approval of the Delight PSAP hearing device is a very significant and positive announcement for Energous in that it represents the first WattUp-enabled consumer product moving into full commercial production, with anticipated availability in Q1,” said Stephen R. Rizzone, president and CEO of Energous Corporation. “While there have been delays in reaching this point, the customer funnel is robust, and we believe this is the first of many WattUp-enabled consumer electronic products in a number of growing vertical markets that will be going into full production in 2019.”

Like hearing aids, PSAPs are used by the hearing impaired to assist with hearing loss, but they are available without a prescription and tend to be lower in cost than hearing aids. WattUp’s unique wireless charging technology allows users to recharge the Delight PSAP simply by placing it on the included WattUp charging pad, eliminating the difficult and often frustrating process of frequent battery replacement.

(NASDAQ:MKSI) (“MKS”), a global provider of technologies that enable advanced processes and improve productivity, today announced it ranked 495 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America. MKS Instruments grew 145% percent during the measurement period from 2014 to 2017.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of Deloitte’s top 500 fastest growing technology companies,” said Gerald Colella, Chief Executive Officer.  “MKS was the largest of only two semiconductor capital equipment companies included in this year’s list, which reflects our long track record of achieving sustainable and profitable above market growth. Over the last several years, we have diversified our end markets, customers, and product portfolio, and believe we are well positioned to capitalize on future growth opportunities. Further, we believe that our proposed acquisition of Electro Scientific Industries will significantly increase our potential growth opportunities by expanding our SAM by $2.2 billion across multiple advanced markets.”

“Congratulations to the Deloitte 2018 Technology Fast 500 winners on this impressive achievement,” said Sandra Shirai, vice chairman, Deloitte LLP, and U.S. technology, media and telecommunications leader. “These companies are innovators who have converted their disruptive ideas into products, services and experiences that can captivate new customers and drive remarkable growth.”

“This year’s ranking demonstrates what is likely a national phenomenon, where many companies from all parts of America are transforming the way we do business by combining breakthrough research and development, entrepreneurship and rapid growth,” added Mohana Dissanayake, partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP, and Industry Leader for technology, media and telecommunications, within Deloitte’s audit and assurance practice.

Overall, the 2018 Technology Fast 500™ list included 344 private companies and 156 public companies.  Of the public companies, MKS was the 7th largest by revenue.
