This Christmas Sorting printable activity will help your Pre-K learners practice sorting two ways. Add this to your Math Center or use at Small Group.
How to Prepare the Christmas Sorting Printable
Print the Christmas Tree mats five times onto card stock paper and laminate if you choose. You can also slip them in clear page protectors.
Print the Ornament page one time onto card stock paper and laminate, then cut out each ornament.
How to Play the Game
Spread out the 5 Christmas tree mats on a table or floor. Place the ornaments in a bowl. Children can sort the ornaments by two attributes.
First, have children sort by color. Sort all of the red ornaments onto one tree, sort the blue ornaments on another tree, the yellow on a tree, etc. until all ornaments have been sorted by color.
Then have children sort the ornaments by the designs on them (depending on your students’ level, you might have to show children how to do this, then let them try). Sort all of the ornaments with wide stripes onto one tree, sort the ornaments with thin stripes onto one tree the diamond shapes on another tree, etc. until all ornaments have been sorted.
