These Alphabet Christmas Tree Mats will help your Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten kids practice matching letters and recognizing letters. There are printable mats for both lowercase and uppercase letters!
Each mat has three letters on ornaments all over the Christmas tree. The ornaments are white, so kids will find the letters and color them with colored chips using a color code.

Easy Prep!
To prepare the activity, print the mats onto card stock paper. To make them durable, you can laminate the mats, or use my favorite thing: clear page protectors! It is so easy and quick to slip the printable mats into page protectors and they are ready to go.
You will need some colored transparent chips in red, blue, and yellow. You could use any colored bingo chips or other material you find, but I prefer the transparent chips because they allow children to see the letter through the chip.
How to Use the Alphabet Christmas Tree Mats
Have children choose a mat to work with. At the top of the mat, children will see the color code for marking the letters. For example, “A” is red, “B” is blue, and “C” is yellow. Children will find all of the letter A’s on the mat and cover them with a red chip, then find and cover all of the B’s with a blue chip, find and cover all of the C’s with a yellow chip.
You can use these mats at Small Group and check children’s work, or place them in your Literacy Center for kids to choose during free choice time.
